I love that Summer is here and that this month’s theme is Let’s Celebrate Summer!

Our projects could be a anything! A card, scrapbook page, 3D item, home decor, etc…We just need to choose something that we love about Summer! It could be flowers, the beach, the mountains, the 4th of July, birds, butterflies, campin

g, relaxing by the pool, summer sports, etc… ANYTHING that makes you happy and that you look forward to every Summer!

I am a total Summer girl!  I love being outside, puttering in my yard, planting flowers and just enjoying a beverage on the deck or by the pool.  I even like cleaning the pool on Summer days!  While I do love lots of things about Summer I think the thing I like best is all the flowers and foliage in our yard.  I love the vibrant colors of things like my SunPatiens and the miniature pink rose bush Jay gave me for our anniversary as well as the sweet smell of the jasmine and gardenias.  So, I decided to share the cards I made for the bonus class for our June edition of the East meets West Creativity Kit.  All of the cards feature the Covered in Flowers Accents and the Brights Painted Patterns 12 x 12 DSP.  These cards are ALL so fun and easy.  Click here if you are interested in the kit that includes all the supplies, video and instructions for these bright and cheerful cards or the PDF so you can use these layouts to create your own cards!

So I learned a few things while working with these flower accents.  The first is that you if you want to keep the solid pieces intact and with the frames the first thing you need to do is flip them over to the backside and attach all the pieces together with Tear & Tape.  Do this carefully!

The second thing that I learned is that there are a variety of ways to color this fun flowers!  Each one will give you a different look and texture.  For example, I used Flirty Flamingo ink along with a brayer to color my flowers. This gave it a lot of texture while not totally covering the white flower.  I loved using the embellishments to add the centers.

I used Blending Brushes to color the final three cards which I think works well if you want to fully cover the flowers.  Just work slowly and carefully as the flowers are fragile.  A dauber would work as well.  It would just take a little more time to cover the flowers.

One other tip, was that I used Blends to color the centers on the flowers on the second and fourth c

ards.  Keep your Color Lifter handy in case you you need to blend the color.

One final tip for this project is to use a brayer to color the DSP like a did on the second card.  I love this look a

nd it was fun to create my own personal DSP.  Please note that this only works when using a bright or darker color of the DSP, like the Poppy Parade and then a coordinating ink like the Timid Tiger I used.  I tried going with the Daffodil Delight DSP and Poppy Parade ink and was disappointed in the results.  The dots basically were absorbed into the background and I had a blah looking piece of DSP.

There is a new catalog with SO much amazing creative potential that not just one type of stamp set, die, technique or product would do! So, our theme for May is “Sketch It Out!” We simply had to choose our favorite colors, technique, DSP, stamps, punches, dies and embellishments to create your own one-of-a-kind card using the card sketch.

Here are a few pointers in case you have never used a card sketch before or are a bit nervous about them. Don’t get hung up on the circles being circles and the squares being squares. Think of them as place holders. So, circles can be squares and squares can be circles. They can also be flowers, butterflies, gears, fruit, bugs, bears, whatever you like. You can use stamped images along with die cuts or punched shapes. The idea is to use the sketch as a guide to helping you create your card.

I am so excited about the All Aflutter Bundle that I am featuring along with the Brights Painted Patterns DSP for the Sassy Stamper Monthly Club in June and this card sketch was perfect to show off this awesome DSP and these adorable butterflies!

The rest are just scrap pieces cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies.  How simple is that!

There are SO many fabulous quilt patterns in the world and while it is a great way to use up scraps of fabric it is also an awesome way to use up DSP scraps in a fun and creative way, too! So this month’s theme is Quilt While You Can! Our projects could be ANYTHING! A card, scrapbook page, 3D item, decor piece, etc.. The ONLY rule is that we had to use a quilt pattern!

Before we get started, let me add that the of the three cards to the left was created with ChatGPT and are not real cards.  However, I hope the graphic will inspire you to go out and find new quilt patterns to create unique and fun cards.

So, now to sharing my project.  This is a card I shared a few months ago during my upline’s monthly Mystery Stamping.  While I did tweak the measurements a bit the idea itself was inspired by the Pampered Stamper.

You will find my supply list below.  Here are the measurements:

• Mossy Meadow 8 ½” x 5 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”, 2 ½” x 2 ½” and a scrap piece
• Secret Sea 4” x 5 ¼”and a scrap

Hello and welcome to our February edition of the NC Demos Blog Hop.  We are SO glad you are here!  If you are just starting with my post please hop all the way around so you don’t miss any of the creative ideas!  I know that my friend, Laurie Meier, is sharing something fabulous as always!

It’s been a rough winter and I know everyone is looking forward to Spring. We can’t control the weather outside, but we can shake off our winter blues by creating cheerful bight projects full of flowers, birds, butterflies, ladybugs and all the things that we look forward to in the Spring.

So this month our theme is Shake Off  The Winter Blues!  Our project could be ANYTHING as long as they make you feel cheerful and help shake off those winter blues!

This weekend I had the please of spending time with some of my team, fellow demos and stamping friends at our Crafty StayCation.  During this event the attendees would choose to purchase a kit featuring the Lovely Blooms Suite.  I had SO much fun creating cards along with my Sassier Creations cohort, Debbie for this kit and I just wasn’t ready to put it aside quite yet as I thought it was perfect for creating a card for my upcoming Cute Cards Quick and to share with you for this month’s blog hop.

This is really a super easy that uses just a few things, but I loved how cheerful and springy it was and that it used some of my favorite Spring colors!  Here are the basic measurements:

• Darling Duckling 5 1/2′ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″ and a scrap
• Pretty in Pink 4″ x 5 1/4″
• Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 3 3/4′ x 5″

Here are the details for making the card:

1. To create this card I stamped the flowers in Crushed Curry onto the 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White and then used a Blending Brush to color them with Darling Duckling.
2. I created marks for the flowers and then used them while stamping the leaves to not stamp over the flowers and create a more layered look.
3. I also stamped the flowers and leaves onto the Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer before adhering it to the inside of the cardbase.
4. I then ran the piece though the Cut & Emboss Machine several times using the die from Lovely Arrangements to make the eyelet pattern.
5. Since I was already die cutting I cut the Vellum piece as well.
6. Next, I stamped the sentiment from Simply Said and punching it out with the 2″ Circle Punch and added the Bubble Bath ribbon to it with Tear & Tape.
7. I then assembled the card with a combination of Multipurpose Glue and Dimensionals.

Now I just need to decide who to send this cheerful card to.  We have LOTS of March birthday among our family and friends so it will definitely get sent!

It’s cold and snowy here in North Carolina right t now, so it’s a perfect time to snuggle up with your favorite beverage and hop along as we share our shopping lists from the new Mini Catty with you! Along with sharing our list we were challenged to have our project order total reach $50 to earn a Bonus Days Coupon AND then what would we would add to reach $75 to get the January Product of the Month, the Fabulous Sayings stamp set!

Our project could be ANYTHING, but should feature products from the January to April Mini Catalog. I love a lot the products in this catalog, but I wanted to try and keep it simple in case someone is new to stamping and then jazz up my project for the more experienced stamper.  This idea helped me decide what to use and also meet the challenge for Bonus Days coupons and Product of the Month!

Both of my projects use the same measurements and basic supplies:

• Basic Gray 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″
• Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ and a scrap
• Old Olive 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
• Mixed Up Patterns DSP
• Scraps of Basic Black, Basic Gray and Old Olive for die cutting the gears on the second card

I used the following additional products that I already had in my stash:

• Stylish Shapes Dies
• Ink pads – Basic Gray, Old Olive, Memento and Smoky Slate
• Faceted Snowflakes

My first card was pretty much just simple stamping and the second incorporated the same style of stamping with the added die cuts.  Both were super easy to make and I can’t wait to make more of this design with different color combos and stamp and die sets!

So, here is my $50 shopping list to reach get a Bonus Days Coupon:

Okay, so I went over by $2.50, but I still think this is pretty good.

I had planned on making a birthday card to share, but then changed my mind after I created this scrapbook page as part of a yearly project I do with my friend, Susi.  Each year I design a single page for each month of the year that she then turns into a scrapbook/photo calendars for her sisters.  It is always a fun, if a bit stressful process at times as we always seem to run out of time for her to finish before Christmas.  The upside is that my creative level seems to increase with the time constraints and stress.  This page for July, the last page to be created, is definitely a product of my procrastination, but I love it and so did Susi!

Here are the basic measurements for the page:

Cardstock:

• Blue Berry Bushel 12″ x 12″
• Real Red 8 1/2″ x 11 and scrap for the letters

DSP for the Lollies:

• Peaceful Garden DSP 3″ x 12″
• Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP Blue Berry Bushel 3 @ 3″ x 6″
• Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP  Real Red  3″ x 6″

Peaceful Garden 12″ x 12″ Glimmer Paper

• Silver  2″ x 11″
• 1 of each color for the pennants: 1″ x 12″
• Scraps for the 1 1/4″ circles on the lollies

You will also want to make some 1 1/4″ circles with chipboard or cardstock scraps to help secure the lollies.  I used the packaging that comes in our Dimensionals.

Here are the basic instructions for making lollies.

1.  Use the Simply Scored or scoring blade on the Paper Trimmer to score  every ½” on the piece of 3” x 12” DSP.  Then cut the 3” x 12” piece of DSP in half making it 2 pieces that are 1 ½”  x 12”.  This creates the larger lolly.
2. Gently fold the DSP back and forth into mountain and valley folds.  Think about how we folded paper into paper fans as children.
3. Attach the two pieces of DSP together, then form a circle using hot glue. Using hot glue for this part of the project will ensure a long life for your lolly.
4. Place a glob of hot glue onto a Silicone Craft Mat. Push one of the folded DSP circles flat onto the glob. Hold it for a few seconds. Add more hot glue to the top of the lolly and cover with a chipboard circle. Let the hot glue cool.
5. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for the smaller lollies.  You will cut the 3″ x 6″ pieces of DSP into 1″ x 6″ pieces after scoring.
6. After the hot glue is cool, this will only take a minute or two, pop the lollies off the Silicone Craft Mat, add a dab of hot glue to the backside and attach another chipboard circle.

One fun tip to share before I go!  I used a packing label to help create the pennants.  I simply took of the backing and attached the strips of Glimmer Paper to the adhesive.  I trimmed off the extra adhesive from around the edges then ran the piece through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using a Party Banner Die. I love how blingy and fun these turned out and will definitely be creating more pennants for my banners with this technique!

This month we are on a mission! Here are the details:

“This month your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to create a project using stamps and a technique to create a unique background.
You can use ANY kind of stamp big or small!
You may NOT use DSP or specialty paper unless you stamp on it.
Embellishments are welcome!”

I love techniques and making unique backgrounds.  I love that they are never exactly them same.  I decided to use an old favorite technique that never disappoints and everyone can do, Faux Silk.  This is such a fun and easy technique and when combine it with the Branching Out stamp set from the September to December Mini Catalog you can’t go wrong!  Here are the basic measurements for my card as well as the Faux Silk Technique directions:

• Timid Tiger 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″scored at 4 1/4″
• Secret Sea 4″ x 5 1/4″, punch the circle for layering the sentiment from the middle of this layer
• Lemon Lolly 3 3/4″ x 5″
• Basic White scrap for the sentiment
• Tissue Paper (this can be recycled) 6″ x 6″

Faux Silk

Supplies:  Tissue paper, Glue stick, Neutral cardstock, Stamps, Ink

1. Stamp images on tissue paper.
2. Color images if necessary. Note:  Color carefully. The ink will bleed through the tissue paper.
3. Crinkle tissue paper. Unfold the tissue paper, but don’t smooth it all the way out.
4. Apply adhesive over the entire piece of neutral cardstock.
5. Spread tissue paper over adhesive.
6. Trim excess tissue paper if needed and glue the edges to the back of the cardstock.
7. Finish your card.

Want to see how easy this technique is in action?  Check out the video I did with my mom a few weeks ago on Stamping With My Mom.  She was a good sport and did a great job as she didn’t know exactly what we were going to do.  This technique is a wonderful way to create backgrounds for any level stamper.

This month’s theme, Big & Bold, is about creating cards that feature greetings! Stampin’ Up! has some awesome large font greeting right now including Simple Congrats, Layered Thoughts, Simple Birthday, Sweet Blooms, Thanking You and many more!  So we were supposed to pick a favorite and make the greeting the focal point of our card!  We could use stamps to decorate your background, embossing folders and small dies to accent your greeting, but the greeting was to steal the show this month!

This awesome card design was part of our team mystery stamping this month and taught by Melissa Maines.  I needed to make a special birthday card and I knew that this fancy fold would work great with the Simple Birthday stamp that I wanted use as part of my blog post this month.  I love it when a plan comes together!

okay, I did use some DSP, ribbon and bling, but I do think the Happy Birthday is still the star of this card and I can’t wait to send it to someone super special!

Here are the dimensions and score lines so you can make you own card.

Lemon Lolly

• 4 1/4 x11 with the 11″ at the top, score at 1 3/8″ and 2 3/4″ on each end
• 8 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ scored at 1 1/2″ and 3″
