NC Demos April 2019 Blog Hop – Celebrating Mother’s Day with a Teatime Sampler

Welcome to this month’s NC Demos Blog Hop!  We are SO glad you are here to share ideas and inspiration for Spring holidays and occasions.  I am sure Frances showed you something you something marvelous.  She is SO creative! 

So, my customers and I love making samplers and this month we are all excited to create one for Mother’s Day.  So, I thought I would share it with you all to inspire your own Mother’s Day gift giving, cards and décor. I think this would also be a nice gift for a friend who enjoys their regular cup of tea.

Just so you have them here are the measurements for all the layers:

• Calypso Coral 8 x 8
• Basic Black 7 ¼ x 7 ¼
• Old Olive 7 x 7
• Whisper White 6 x 6
• Gingham Gala DSP 2 x 6

I usually start out my samplers by deciding on which cardstock I am going to use and how I am going to layer it.  This time was a little different as I started with my Whisper White piece and used Embossing Paste mixed with a drop of Old Olive reinker and the a decorative mask to create my lattice.  While that was drying, I used the Stamparatus and stamper my teapot, cup and flowers ALL at once onto Whisper White Thick Cardstock with Memento Ink. I then die all the pieces.

After die cutting everything, I used my Blends to color the flowers and add just a little to the teapot lid and the bottom of the teacup.  I colored these a little differently than I have in the past. I colored the flowers and leaves with the lighter Blends first, then added the darker color to the edge.  Next, I went back over the entire flower and leaves with the lighter Blends colors and the Color Lifter. I think attached the flowers to the teapot and cup with Mini Dimensionals.

After some experimentation and the advice of a friend who had popped in to work on birthday cards, I finally decided on the Highland Heather gingham DSP and the lace looking piece as well as the leaves for the top and bottom corners from Delicately Detailed Laser Cut Specialty Paper.  Once you cut the leaf piece away for the rest of the paper just cut it in half so you have a little for both corners.

Once I had all of that decided, it was time to assemble my sampler.  I started by attaching the leaf pieces to the Old Olive piece with Mini Glue Dots.  I then created my sampler base by attaching all the layers including the Old Olive one together with Dimensionals. 

Next, I used a little SNAIL to tack the lacy flower piece to the Gingham Gala DSP to make sure it was straight then used Dimensionals to make it more secure.  This was then added to the Whisper White piece at the bottom. I then attached this square to the Old Olive one again using Dimensionals. 

It was finally time to add my cute teapot and cup as well as the cute little flower and greeting in the top corner.  Of course I used MORE Dimensionals. I wanted the little flower and greeting to have multiple layers, so there are Dimensionals between both the Whisper White and Highland Heather circles as well as more to attach the circles to the sampler.  I then took an edge from a sheet of Mini Dimensionals and took off the protective piece, folded it in half and attached it to the back of the lower to add just one more layer of dimension. For that last little thing, I added one of the Daffodil Delight sequins from the Gingham Gala Adhesive Back Sequins to the center of my little flower.

I do want to add that my customers will be creating their own color combinations using a variety of DSP and Blends or Stampin’ Write Markers.  I will share their wonderful creations on my Facebook and Pinterest pages in May.

NC Demos April 2019 Blog Hop – Celebrating Mother’s Day with a Teatime Sampler

Mothers Day Tea, Together

Just so you have them here are the measurements for all the layers:

NC Demos March 2019 Blog Hop – Celebrating Easter With Cute Critters

Good evening and thank you for stopping by for this month’s NC Demos Blog Hop featuring cute critters!   I am sure you saw something adorable on Sue Stapp’s page.  As you may know if you follow my blog I love love fur babies in particular my kitty cats (Emmie Lou is in my lap helping me write this post) and usually I would have created a project with cats or dogs, but with Easter just around the corner my customers asked me to create an Easter Sampler and how could I not use the Fabled Friends stamp set as a featured part of it.  

This sampler really isn’t too hard to make.  I actually had two ladies join us this month who had never stamped before and they both not only completed theirs in record time, but they looked just as fantastic as everyone else’s.  If you are going to copy a sampler I suggest cutting all of your cardstock first, then build each square and lastly work from the base of your sampler up. In this case the 12×12 piece up to the top.  Another thing I have discovered is that you can NEVER use enough dimensionals! So, there are Dimensionals between each layer of the sampler base and to attach the sampler blocks together. I do always use the Multipurpose Glue to attach the blocks to the base.  Since the glue does dry immediately you can make sure your block is where you want it and straight. 

All of the stamped images were stamped with the Tuxedo Black stamp pad and then colored with Blends Markers.  The sky on the all the squares was created using the Balmy Blue Classic Ink and sponges.

That all said here are the measurements and some basic instructions.

• 12 x 12 Highland Heather
• 103/4 x 10 ¾ Whisper White
• 10 ¼ x 10 ¼ Pear Pizzazz

Happy Easter Block

Balmy Blue cs 9 ¼ x 3, Botanical Butterfly DSP 9 x 2 ¾, Large Letters Framelits cut out of Highland Heather cs and embossed with the Country Floral Dynamic TIEF.  The bunny and carrot are from the Best Bunny stamp set.

Daisy Block

Balmy Blue cs 3 x 3, Gingham Gala DSP 2 ¾ x 2 ¾. Punch two daisies out Whisper White Thick cs with the Daisy Punch and attach together with a Mini Dimensional.  Punch your center out of a scrap of Daffodil Delight and attach with Multipurpose Glue.

A Little Squirrelly Block

Balmy Blue cs 3 x 3, Whisper White Cardstock 2 ¾ x 2 ¾.

Bunny Back Block

Balmy Blue cs 3 x 3, Gingham Gala DSP 2 ¾ x 2 ¾. Use the Bunny Builder Punch with Whisper White Thick cs.  Use a Sponge Dauber and Smoky Slate ink for shading then attach your bunny together with Dimensionals.

Peter Rabbit Block 

Balmy Blue 3 ½ x 2 ¾, Whisper White 3 ¼ x 2 ½.  Use the Light Night of Navy Blends and the Color Lifter for jacket.

Just Ducky Block

Balmy Blue cs 6 ¼ x 3 ½, Whisper White 6 x 3 ¼.  Stamp greeting on Whisper white in Highland Heather ink and cut out with the Stitched Framelits.

NC Demos February 2019 Blog Hop – Keeping it in the Lines

Hello and welcome to the February edition of the NC Demos Blog Hop! We are so glad you are here. If you stopped by Jo Anne Hewins’ page you already have seen a wonderful project and know that this month’s theme is staying in the lines which is all about coloring! Stampin’ Up! has so many wonderful products that help even beginning stampers to feel like real artists.

I have a confession to make. I am not the best at coloring and it really isn’t my favorite thing to do, but using the blends and the watercolor pencils with a blender pen make me feel like a real pro. I am sharing two projects with you this month both of which use the Home to Roost set that is available with your Sale-A-Bration (SAB) qualifying order of $50 before tax and shipping.

My first project was one I made with my customers at my Sale-A-Celebration Celebration party in January. It is a complete case of the project on page 11 of the SAB catalog. It uses the note cards and envelopes which I think are amazing especially if you need to make a lot of cards quickly. 

As always I started my project by cutting my miscellaneous pieces of card stock. I then stamped my rooster with the memento ink pad and colored him using 1st the watercolor pencils and then blending everything with a blender pen. After coloring and blending my watercolors pencil I used the Tin Tile embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot. Please note that I did not spritz it with water but did run it through twice. Then all I had to do was put my pieces together using Multi purpose glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I did use a little bit of SNAIL to help me adhere the Basic Black Bakers Twine to the back of my greeting.

My second card was cased from a fellow demo. I now cannot find where i saw it, but I don’t ever want to take credit for work that isn’t mine.  Of course, I did tweak it a bit. 

After cutting my cardstock, I embossed my Cherry Cobbler cardstock and then die cut the circle for my rooster which I stamped with the Memento ink pad. I then used the Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Old Olive Blends to color the rooster.  Once that was all done I stamped the grass in Memento on the Crumb Cake cardbase and put everything together using Multipurpose Glue, Dimensionals and Tear & Tape for the Burlap Ribbon.

I love that rooster and I love the TinTile EF. Together they are wonderful. I tend to forget about the watercolor pencils. Love how that looks on the Crumb Cake. Great cards.

If you have already visited Jo Anne Hewins’ blog I know you saw a fabulous project featuring this month’s theme, A Perfect Pair.  So, what does this mean if you are just starting your blog hop adventure? Well, we wanted to show everyone just how perfectly the Stampin’ Up! Products from each catalog pair up with each other.  It’s like chocolate and peanut butter getting together to make a Reese’s Cup. It’s just meant to be!

So, I am sharing a super simple card using the Bloom to Bloom Bundle that I cased from page 24 of the Occasions Catalog.  The Bloom to Bloom set doesn’t have any greetings, so and I needed an accessory that I had enough of for all of the ladies coming to my Cute Cards Quick today and later this week, so I went in search of these in my stamping stash.  I ended up pairing the Bloom to Bloom Bundle and the Hand Delivered Hostess set from the Annual Catalog as well as the Leaf Ribbon. We used the Stamparatus at my event today and everyone agreed it made this cheery and bright card very quick. 

Here are my measurements just in case you need them:

• Lovely Lipstick 4 ¼ x 11 and scored at 5 ½
• Whisper White 3 ½ x 4 ¾
• I used scraps of Whisper White and Calypso Coral for the greeting.  I stamped my greeting and then punched it with the 1 ¼ inch punch.

I started my card by stamping the stems, then the big  flowers and finally the Pineapple Punch ones. My customers who made three of these decided it was easier to stamp each step one at a time and then going back to reposition the cardstock to do the next one. So, they stamped all the stems on each of their three cards, then the big flowers and finally the small yellow ones.

All of the cardstock is attached with Dimensionals and I used Glue Dots to secure the Leaf Ribbon.

Using the catalog as inspiration is always a good thing. I do love your use of the ribbon. I bought it and have never used it. I’m going to get it out! Thank you!

NC Demos November 2018 Blog Hop – It’s All About a Festive Christmas

Good evening and welcome to the November NC Demos Blog Hop!  If you stopped by Jo Anne’s blogyou already know that this month’s hop is ALL about the holidays and she shared something fantastic.  I decided that I would share the sampler that a few of my customers inspired and pooled products together to make after seeing one made by Audra Monk using some of our favorite products from this year’s Holiday Catalog. 

As you can see there was a lot of activity going on at the Stamp Pad today and I am now supposed to be at dinner at my neighbor’s in ten minutes, SO I am including a product list and measurements for my Festive Christmas sampler.  If you have questions about any of the squares, please email me or comment below. You always make such nice samplers and this one is no exception. It looks like you all had a lot of fun making them. I love how you all pooled your supplies to get everything needed.

12 Weeks of Christmas – A Calendar Gift Card Reminds Someone You Care All Year Long!

Calendars are a great gift for teachers, administrative assistants or anyone who spends a lot of time sitting at a desk or that friend who just never knows what day of the week it is.  It is also something they will use all year long which is my kind of gift!

I did a similar project last year and once again High Performance Marketing is printing these calendars for me.  They are $1 each or $0.80 if you order 25 or more. Postage is not included. If you live in the Raleigh, NC area you can pop by and pick them up.

Ink – Shaded Spruce (147088)

Card Stock – Pacific Point (111350), Whisper White (100730), Shaded Space (146981), So Saffron (105118)

Misc. – SNAIL adhesive (104332), Share What You Love designer series paper (146926), Big Shot (143263), Magnetic Platform (130658), Merry Christmas thinlits (146912), Detailed Deer thinlits (147915), Big Shot (143263), Magnetic Platform (130658), Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334), Tear & Tape adhesive (138995), Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108); 2019 tear-off calendar (available through Pinterest, eBay, etc)

Measurements: 

• Pacific Point: 8 1/5″ x 5 1/2″; 4 1/4″ x 3″ (stand)
• Share What You Love: 5 1/4” x 4”; 3 1/4” x 2 1/2”
• Shaded Spruce: 3 1/2” x 2 3/4”; 5 1/4” x 1/2”
• So Saffron: 3 1/4” x 2 1/2”
• Whisper White: 3” x 1 1/4”

Instructions:

1. Fold Pacific Point card stock in half and crease to create card base.
2. Adhere larger piece of Share What You Love paper to card base.
3. Adhere smaller piece of Share What You Love paper to Shaded Spruce layer and then to card front center.
4. Attach So Saffron layer to Shaded Spruce layer using Tear & Tape adhesive.
5. Using SNAIL, adhere strip of Shaded Spruce card stock across top front of card. Adhere calendar to So Saffron layer using Tear & Tape adhesive.
6. Ink phrase using Shaded Spruce ink and stamp onto scrap Whisper White card stock. Die-cut using frame thinlit from Merry Christmas thinlits. Adhere to card front on top of Shaded Spruce strip.
7. Die-cut Pacific Point flowers from Detailed Deer thinlits. Attach to phrase layer using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
8. Lay Pacific Point card stock layer (vertically) on Simply Scored. Score at 1/2”,1 1/2”, and 2 1/2”. Burnish using Bone Folder: smaller tabs in and center score out.
9.  Attach stand to inside of card at bottom, using Tear & Tape adhesive as in photo below; the smaller tabs attach to the card front and card back.
