Here is a list of suggested tools and supplies you need to get together before the party:

• A stamp set with coordinating punches or dies, or accent dies that can be used on their own.

This month we have a crafty challenge for our blog hop theme.  Here are all the details and rules we were to follow:

We could create ANY kind of project.

The challenging part is that we MUST include the following:

• Punches
• Paper Piecing
• DSP, Foil, Specialty Paper, etc…
• Your color palette should include colors from the Regals collection
• Your project theme should be Congratulations

So, I need to admit one thing before I share my project.  I am not sure that I met the true definition of Paper Piecing, but I think I nailed the rest of the challenge and I really like the simplicity of this card and how easy it was to make.

I started with what might be my favorite bundle from the May to August Catalog, the All Aflutter Bundle.  I just love these butterflies and how easy it is to line up the stamps with the punch.  It makes such bright and cheerful cards!

After choosing the All Aflutter Bundle I worked on meeting the challenge requirements.

First, I needed a Congratulations stamp since thee wasn’t anything appropriate in the All Aflutter set.  This was an easy choice as the Sending Salutations stamp set was already on my workspace.

After choosing the stamp sets and punch I next worked on finding DSP to go along with it, but also met the Regals color requirement.  I decided on the Nature Walk DSP piece with the swirly Blueberry Bushel pattern.  I have used this DSP for a variety of projects over the last few months and love all the patterns in the package.  They are so versatile!

The DSP set the stage for finalized my Regals color palette of Blueberry Bushel, Crushed Curry and just a touch of Old Olive provided by the Dewdrops Embellishments.

I used the punch from the All Aflutter Bundle stamping the butterflies onto Crushed Curry Two-Tone Cardstock to have two shades of yellow for my butterflies.

Okay, so back to that Paper Piecing things…I am going to claim that the connected butterflies meet that requirement.  That’s my story and I am sticking to it!  LOL

So, here are few more details about this card:

• All the butterflies and sentiment are stamped in Blueberry Bushel.
• Stamp from right to left when using this bundle.  It makes punching out the butterflies SO much easier!
• The butterflies are randomly attached with a combination of Multipurpose Glue and Dimensionals.
• I did attach the butterflies to the DSP prior to adding it to the cardbase just in case the butterflies needed to be trimmed to not go over the edges of the card.

Finally, here are the measurements for this card:

• Blueberry Bushel 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″
• Crushed Curry 4″ x 5 1/4″
• Crushed Curry Two-Tone Cardstock 2 1/2″ x 12
• Basic White scrap
• Nature Walk DSP 3 3/4″ x 5″

Wow!  How is it that July is nearly over and it is time for Mystery Stamping again?  This year is REALLY going quick! I hope you are all enjoying the Summer with this crazy mix of hot days and rainy days.  The good news is that both of these kinds are days are perfect stamping days and I think you will be adding this month’s Mystery Stamping project to your stamping to do list!

Don’t be shocked, but we ARE NOT using ANY DSP this month!  Get ready for some stamping and you may want to be sure to have coordinating dies or punches for your stamp sets!

Here is the scoop on how our Mystery Stamping Parties work. – You will need to gather your supplies and cut your cardstock before the party. There is a list of supplies (some are suggested, so don’t worry if you don’t have everything) and cardstock dimensions below.

During the party I will give you step-by-step directions to make your card along with some tips and tricks. We will NOT share anything about our projects until the very end.

PLEASE note that that I might practice a fancy fold to make sure I understand how it works, but I DO NOT create the full project until I do it with you.  So, it is always a mystery how it will all turn out for me, just like it is for you!

It is always so much fun to see how everyone interprets the directions and with everyone using different stamps, cardstock, DSP, etc.., everyone’s card will be a one of a kind!

Please note that you CAN use anything you have in regards to stamp sets, punches, cardstock, DSP or embellishments. It can be retired if you have something you like and want to use.

Hint, if this is your first time joining us, you might consider prepping two sets of cardstock and DSP.  We lovingly call this “Pulling an Allison.” This ensures that if something goes wrong or you decide  you don’t like how something goes together you can easily fix it.

I love that Summer is here and that this month’s theme is Let’s Celebrate Summer!

Our projects could be a anything! A card, scrapbook page, 3D item, home decor, etc…We just need to choose something that we love about Summer! It could be flowers, the beach, the mountains, the 4th of July, birds, butterflies, campin

g, relaxing by the pool, summer sports, etc… ANYTHING that makes you happy and that you look forward to every Summer!

I am a total Summer girl!  I love being outside, puttering in my yard, planting flowers and just enjoying a beverage on the deck or by the pool.  I even like cleaning the pool on Summer days!  While I do love lots of things about Summer I think the thing I like best is all the flowers and foliage in our yard.  I love the vibrant colors of things like my SunPatiens and the miniature pink rose bush Jay gave me for our anniversary as well as the sweet smell of the jasmine and gardenias.  So, I decided to share the cards I made for the bonus class for our June edition of the East meets West Creativity Kit.  All of the cards feature the Covered in Flowers Accents and the Brights Painted Patterns 12 x 12 DSP.  These cards are ALL so fun and easy.  Click here if you are interested in the kit that includes all the supplies, video and instructions for these bright and cheerful cards or the PDF so you can use these layouts to create your own cards!

So I learned a few things while working with these flower accents.  The first is that you if you want to keep the solid pieces intact and with the frames the first thing you need to do is flip them over to the backside and attach all the pieces together with Tear & Tape.  Do this carefully!

The second thing that I learned is that there are a variety of ways to color this fun flowers!  Each one will give you a different look and texture.  For example, I used Flirty Flamingo ink along with a brayer to color my flowers. This gave it a lot of texture while not totally covering the white flower.  I loved using the embellishments to add the centers.

I used Blending Brushes to color the final three cards which I think works well if you want to fully cover the flowers.  Just work slowly and carefully as the flowers are fragile.  A dauber would work as well.  It would just take a little more time to cover the flowers.

One other tip, was that I used Blends to color the centers on the flowers on the second and fourth c

ards.  Keep your Color Lifter handy in case you you need to blend the color.

One final tip for this project is to use a brayer to color the DSP like a did on the second card.  I love this look a

nd it was fun to create my own personal DSP.  Please note that this only works when using a bright or darker color of the DSP, like the Poppy Parade and then a coordinating ink like the Timid Tiger I used.  I tried going with the Daffodil Delight DSP and Poppy Parade ink and was disappointed in the results.  The dots basically were absorbed into the background and I had a blah looking piece of DSP.

• 4” x 5 ¼” Basic White or neutral for the inside of you cardbase is a dark color
• 4” x 5 ¼” layering piece. One of your circles can be the same color.
• 3 ¾” x 5” Basic White or Neutral (this could also be a piece of DSP that coordinates with your stamp set.

Supplies:

• Stamps, punches, and dies

• 3 Circle Dies or large punches that can be used with your sentiment and for layering. 1 should be neutral.  The other two should coordinate with your ink and cardstock
