Hello and welcome to the September edition of the NC Demo Blog Hop! We are SO glad you are here! Be sure to hop all the way around and see what our friend Kelly Taranto is sharing this month if you haven’t already done so. I know you will be inspired!
This month we are on a mission! Here are the details:
“This month your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to create a project using stamps and a technique to create a unique background.
You can use ANY kind of stamp big or small!
You may NOT use DSP or specialty paper unless you stamp on it.
Embellishments are welcome!”
I love techniques and making unique backgrounds. I love that they are never exactly them same. I decided to use an old favorite technique that never disappoints and everyone can do, Faux Silk. This is such a fun and easy technique and when combine it with the Branching Out stamp set from the September to December Mini Catalog you can’t go wrong! Here are the basic measurements for my card as well as the Faux Silk Technique directions:
- Timid Tiger 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″scored at 4 1/4″
- Secret Sea 4″ x 5 1/4″, punch the circle for layering the sentiment from the middle of this layer
- Lemon Lolly 3 3/4″ x 5″
- Basic White scrap for the sentiment
- Tissue Paper (this can be recycled) 6″ x 6″
Faux Silk
Supplies: Tissue paper, Glue stick, Neutral cardstock, Stamps, Ink
- Stamp images on tissue paper.
- Color images if necessary. Note: Color carefully. The ink will bleed through the tissue paper.
- Crinkle tissue paper. Unfold the tissue paper, but don’t smooth it all the way out.
- Apply adhesive over the entire piece of neutral cardstock.
- Spread tissue paper over adhesive.
- Trim excess tissue paper if needed and glue the edges to the back of the cardstock.
- Finish your card.
Want to see how easy this technique is in action? Check out the video I did with my mom a few weeks ago on Stamping With My Mom. She was a good sport and did a great job as she didn’t know exactly what we were going to do. This technique is a wonderful way to create backgrounds for any level stamper.
Thank you for letting me share my background technique with you. I hope I have inspired you to get out some stamps, recycle some tissue paper and create your own one of a kind piece!
Please contact me if you would like to add any of the supplies I used to your crafting stash or have any questions about this project. I am here to help!
That is all I have for tonight, but I hope you will hop on over with me to see what Frances Wagner has created this month. I now it will be fabulous!
Thank you again!
Stay Safe & Crafty!
